Harley and Cyrus became close while searching for Marina after
she was kidnapped by Marshall Griggs, Cyrus's one time partner. Harley had faith in Cyrus when everyone wanted to toss away
the key. She believed in him when she shouldn't have. She had faith that together they could find Marina. Cyrus gave Harley
faith back in men. Harley had been burned by her soon to be ex husband Gus, when his ex girlfriend Natalia and his
secret son Rafe showed up in Springfield. Harley was hurt and burned. She became a cynic about love. Cyrus had ample times
to leave Harley while they were in New York, but he always came back. They always had each other's back.
After finding a clue that Marina was back in Springfield, they left
New York. Cyrus found out that his wife Alexandra hired Griggs to kidnap Marina. Not a way to endear yourself to your husband.
To complicate matters further, Harley's brother and Marina's father Frank had warrants issued to have Cyrus arrested for kidnapping
Marina. Kind of obvious that Frank doesn't like his daughter's new paramour. Against Harley's better judgement, she agreed
to hide Cyrus at her house along with Alexandra. This meant keeping away her own three children: Zach, Jude and Daisy who
had only recently come back into her mother's life. Harley hated being away from her children but believed this was the only
way to find her niece. Harley regretted it even more when she found out that Daisy was pregnant and had an abortion. Harley
was beside herself with grief. She wanted to comfort her daughter but how could she bring her home while Cyrus and Alexandra
were there. Cyrus comforted Harley when she returned showing her that she wasn't alone.
A couple days later, Harley had a meeting with Griggs to get Marina back. Cyrus showed up knowing
that Griggs was going to double cross Harley. Cyrus made a secret deal offering himself in exchange for Marina and Harley.
Grigggs agreed. Harley and Marina were freed believing that Cyrus would be behind them. Cyrus never showed up which was fine
with Marina's father Frank. He never wanted to see Cyrus again. Harley knew that something wasn't right. She decided to take
a look giving up a chance to talk with Gus.
Harley found Cyrus in an abandoned church. She tried to rescue him when Griggs came back. Griggs
then dropped his bomb. The church was slated to be demolished in the morning with them inside. Harley was horrified and furious
but through out all of it Cyrus keep her sane. They developed a deeper lasting connection while facing death. When the building
fell with them inside, they survived against the odds. Cyrus kept Harley sane telling her to keep the faith. He distracted
her by asking questions about her children. Harley kept Cyrus alive even though he had internal bleeding. When it seemed
that all was lost, Harley and Cyrus kissed letting the emotion from the past couple of weeks fall over.
After getting rescued, Cyrus and Harley were rushed to Cedar's hospital.
Harley waited outside while Cyrus was attended to. It seemed surreal being outside the rubble. Nothing seemed real to Harley
except Cyrus who was fighting for his life. Harley went to him and told him to keep fighting. They were survivors. He had
to survive. She couldn't lose him. Cyrus awoke to her voice. Marina came in then relieved that Cyrus was alive.
It was then that doctors discovered that Cyrus had internal bleeding. He would need surgery. Cyrus returned unconcious. Harley
waited with everyone. Cyrus would be o.k. Harley waited outside getting news that Gus wanted an annulment ( wonderful timing
), Harley was at a loss. Everything on the outside had changed except one thing : Cyrus.
Cyrus meanwhile had gone to talk to Frank. Cyrus had told Frank he
was willing to give up Marina and leave Springfiled. The hitch was that the robbery charges would be dropped. Frank reluctantly
agreed. Cyrus left the police station for the Spaulding Mansion to get his passport. Marina found him there and convinced
him to stay.Cyrus agreed. Marina brought him back to the hospital. She left soon afterwards. Cyrus then called the nurse saying
that he wanted to leave early. Then came the call from Harley. She needed to be close to him. She needed to see him. Cyrus
agreed understanding how shellshocked they both were.
While at the hospital, Harley had been closed off to her family
unsure of how to describe what had happened. It was with Cyrus, that the floodgates opened. ( Beth Ehlers gives an emmy worthy
performance here.) Harley talked about everyone not understanding what had happened to them. She then told Cyrus about the
annulment and not giving Gus a fight. She quesitoned about that and how everything seemed surreal. Everything was spinning
still. Cyrus understood. It felt the same way to him as well. Harley was relieved that someone understood. Cyrus explained
he didn't believe that he would have survived without Harley being there. She kept him alive. Harley said he did the same
thing. Then the nurse came in and said Cyrus's papers for early release had been signed. Cyrus was surprised. Harley questioned
if he was ready. Cyrus said that he was but where should he go. Harley suggested her place. It had already become his home.
Cyrus smiled as Harley put together his bags. Then Marina arrived. Cyrus agreed to leave with her breaking Harley's heart.
Harley instead went to find her daughter Daisy.
